31. प्रत्येक व्यक्ति, ऐसे मजिस्ट्रेट या पुलिस अधिकारी की सहायता करने के लिए आबद्ध है, जो निम्नलिखित कार्यों में उचित रूप से उसकी सहायता मांगता है, –

(क) किसी अन्य ऐसे व्यक्ति को, जिसे ऐसा मजिस्ट्रेट या पुलिस अधिकारी गिरफ्तार करने के लिए प्राधिकृत है, पकड़ना या उसका निकल भागने से रोकना ; या

(ख) शान्ति भंग का निवारण या दमन; या

(ग) किसी लोक संपत्ति को क्षति पहुंचाने के प्रयत्न का निवारण ।

31. Every person is bound to assist a Magistrate or police officer reasonably demanding his aid—
    (a) in the taking or preventing the escape of any other person whom such Magistrate or police officer is authorised to arrest; or
    (b) in the prevention or suppression of a breach of the peace; or
    (c) in the prevention of any injury attempted to be committed to any public property.
